Hi
Been watching your website for a while waiting for the new studio library extractor to appear 1.0.30.0
Using Win 10 64 bit Need some help, have downloaded the silhouette studio Library File extractor, and installed it.............
on launch it states "cannot read in the index file", so have re-indexed the library both in version 3.0 and 1.9, then re-started the program still getting the same results. when I click okay there is no way to put the address of the library from Program data into it and get it accepted. When I have go online to convert using the online converter, none of the files I enter are valid .studio files, yet I have 4386 files in Silhouette studio which are all accessible via silhouette studio program.
Is this a 64 bit vs 32 bit issue?
Thanks in advance

Do you know the full path to the 'ProgramData' for the Silhouette Studio Library? If so, is there a file called 'index' in there?
What do you mean by "none of the files I enter are valid .studio files"? What error message do you get?
Does the attached Studio file work?

C:\ProgramData\com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio.8 does contain an index file, but for some reason the program isnt picking up the index from the program data file, I get Cannot read in the index file. I have no idea why, and when I copy and paste the path into the address box there is no way to get it to "work/Start" the process. in the users C:\Users\mum\AppData\Roaming\com.aspexsoftware.Silhouette_Studio there is no idex file, sorry
as to the file you provided downloading and converting yes it does, I think what I was trying to do was convert the files direct from my program data folder as opposed to saving them from within studio first, then converting them, sorry forgot about studios inability to share!

Can you attach the index file to this post? It shouldn't have a length of 0 bytes.
The Silhouette Studio Library entries contain not only .studio files, but any supported vector or bitmap files.

okay my index is showing as 299 kbs, thanks, and it wont let me attach it sorry, as its 100 kbs over the limit
-
I've updated the attachment limit to 1MB. If the index file won't upload, save it as a .txt file, or a .zip file.

Hi Thansk so much for your help attached hopefully is the file, xx
-
The index file is okay. I'll add some 'logging' code to produce a log file to the Extractor and send you a copy to try. It should be later this week.

Thanks So Much Ian, appreciate all your work on this, now I have figured out to tick the email response box I wont be so long in replying, dizzy mare I am!

This is a quick test, try running StudioLibraryContents.bat file attached. It should create 2 files, StudioLibraryFolderContents-Vista-7-8-10.txt and StudioLibraryFolderContents-XP.txt.
Attach both of them to this post please.

Thanks Ian much appreciated

I think I've fixed the issue with the error "cannot read in the index file".
The file with the fix in can be downloaded from http://ideas-r-us-software.uk/Downloads/SilhouetteStudioLibraryFileExtractor.exe. There's no installer, just run it from where it's downloaded to.

Thanks Ian, that worked, well mostly. some of them have converted as .gst files, one of which I have attached, as opposed to a studio file, ie: there is no studio file for this, where as most of them have converted/extracted as studio files.
1141 have converted/extracted as .gst files out of @4300 studio library files.
-
The Silhouette Studio Library can contain other types of file formats apart from .studio/.studio3, such as DXF, SVG, and PNG.
GST is a GSD template file (it's just a GSD file that has been renamed to GST to stop it from being overwritten), used with the old Graphtec CraftROBO software.

Okay so can I just rename the .gst to gsd and it will work then?
-
Renaming GST files to GSD will work. Silhouette Studio will read GST files, my Online Converter will convert GST to SVG files without renaming, and other software packages will read GSD files.

your a star! Thanks Ian, just been and bought my conversion credits, 3 sets, so all your work is much appreciated, xxx

Thank you for the orders Louisa :). I never intended anyone to purchase more than 1000 conversion credits at once, so I have added another 1000 to your account, and for identifying the issue in the Extractor.

Ian,
This software is amazing, and a time saver, both the studio library extractor, and the desktop interface. They work seamlessly to do what it would take months to do, in a few short minutes, and a few short steps.
The extractor is quick and easy to use, extracting the whole of the library, and everything I have purchased. The online converter is very quick converting just over 2000 files in 15 minutes, this means that I now have access to the designs I have bought and paid for outside of the silhouette studio software for use on other machines.
The FCM converter included in the desktop means that any fcm files can now be used in machines which are capable of more delicate and intricate cuts, without a loss of detail, and have extracted flawlessly.
All in all a perfect piece of software to do a job that would take months and months to do. The fact that it produces a visual thumbnail for reference on the studio files, and has the text file describing designer and where to get help on the studio extracted files is an absolute godsend.
All I can say is THANK YOU!!!!
If you want to use any of this for promotional purposes then you can, because you are an absolute star!!!!!!

Thank you for your review :), I'm glad that you can use the files with whatever machine you want to (although some designers and manufacturers may not want you to). Rather than copy and paste your review directly, I will at some point paste the link on the Ideas R Us Software website.
Most of the files in the Silhouette Store are not that complex, and will convert very quickly (but it's also dependent on how many others are using the online converter).
If you were to load a library file and save it in 10 seconds, 4300 files would take 43,000 seconds, or nearly 12 hours.
I know that a number of Converter users are converting FCM files from the Tattered Lace ScanNCut USB's to SVG, but I dont know what machines they will be using. The FCM file format is the simplest of the entire file format readers/converters that I have written, the Studio file format the most complex. My Cutter Controller also reads FCM files, and will cut/plot to a number of high-end cutters, as well as the low end Cricuts.
Don't forget to check the report files for both the Extractor and Desktop Interface to see what hasn't been converted or extracted correctly.
